I joined the Johannesburg Bar in 1996 after a stint as a Company Secretary and in-house Legal Advisor for a number of industry associations, notably the Northern Transvaal Chamber of Industries, the Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association of SA, the Proprietary Association of SA, and the Agricultural Society of Transvaal (organisers of the Pretoria Show), as well as the Veterinary Council – a statutory body.
I am a Fellow of the Association of Arbitrators of SA and serves on the Commercial Panel of the Arbitration Foundation of SA. I am the author of the LexisNexis publication Banking Law & Practice [with Dr M Vessio] and three titles in The Law of South Africa.
Banking Law and Practice is updated annually compelling me to remain up to date with the latest development in fields such as money laundering, FICA (the Financial Intelligence Centre Act 38 of 2001), company law, banking law, Â insolvency law and contract law.
I held acting appointments in the Gauteng Division of the High Court in Johannesburg in 2020 to 2023 and a selection of judgments are published in the South African Law Reports (SALR), All South African Law Reports (All SA), Judgments Online (JOL), and Juta Daily Reports (JDR).
I obtained my LLB from the University of South Africa in 1986 and two LLM degrees in Company Law, Tax Law, Maritime Law, and Transnational Law in 1990 (University of Pretoria, 1990) and in Intellectual Property Law (University of South Africa, 2001).
As a referral advocate I practice in all courts when briefed by attorneys.
My mission aims at meeting all the needs of clients with particular focus on alternative dispute resolution (ADR) including consensual arbitration as a cost effective, confidential and speedy to resolve disputes.
